Why "Compact" Is Not A Bad Thing When It Comes To Cars

Compact cars, like a Hyundai Elantra (or other compact makes and models), are not necessarily bad things. A lot of people tend to associate the word "compact" with uncomfortable, tight, or cramped. That makes sense, but it really does not apply to these cars unless you are eight feet tall and trying to drive around a car full of six to eight feet tall people. The average person can fit quite comfortably in a compact car and still have room. Here are some other reasons why "compact" is not a bad thing when it comes to cars.

You Still Get Loads of Tech Features

No matter how compact, this category of car packs a lot of tech into the dash. Once you are behind the wheel, you hardly notice anything different about driving one of these cars than you do driving any other new and modern vehicle. Touch screen controls, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc., are all standard on most compact cars. Charging ports for devices are plentiful, too.

Luxury for Less

If you want leather seats, heated seats, and/or other luxury car features, you can get them in a compact car model without the luxury car price. This appeals to a lot of people who want to ride in comfort but do not have the tens of thousands of dollars for a larger luxury car. Spend time sitting in a floor model of a luxury car that has these features, and you will see that you can still get what you want and not break your bank doing it.

Gas Mileage Is Better

Compact and sub-compact cars are notorious for incredibly good gas mileage. Many of them can go hundreds of miles on highways on a single tank of gas before you have to stop to refuel. Compare that to mid-size or larger vehicles that will require refueling after two hundred miles or less of travel on the same highways. Compact cars are also excellent choices for city driving, since the constant stop and go movement of traffic has little effect on their gas consumption. If you purchase a hybrid version of these cars, you get even better gas mileage, reaching beyond three or four hundred miles to a single tank of gas for a compact vehicle.

You Can Still Fit Five People Inside

No one knows quite how car designers do it, but compact cars can still fit two adults or teens up front, and three children, teens, or petite adults in back. Regardless, that is still five human bodies occupying the same space. It makes a compact vehicle not seem "compact" at all.
